Paul and Jahanavi met at Amherst College in the spring of 2017 when they were both 19 years old. Their first date was at the locally famous Judy's restaurant followed by a movie neither of them can remember the name of. The next day, Paul came by with chocolate and plans for a second date, which came sooner than planned and involved a glamorous and romantic ambulance ride to the hospital where he was treated for a broken nose. Paul of course listed Jahanavi as his emergency contact.
They made the most of their next three years together at Amherst: attending every rugby match and golf tournament (as well as one fateful soccer game); driving 1,500 miles to New Orleans; prepping each other for job interviews, thesis presentations, and licensing exams; and finally graduating over livestream in 2020.
They spent the following several months in a CDC-mandated long distance relationship before finally moving to New York. Their life since has been packed with Paul's cooking, movie nights with friends, dinner dates, visits with Paul's parents in Westchester, and walks along the pier. They also made up for lost time, traveling together to Banff, the Florida Keys, Iceland, Madrid, Marbella, Mallorca, Morocco, Puglia, and visiting Jahanavi's parents in Paris.
In September 2022, after 5 and a half years together, Paul proposed on a stunning beach in Santa Maria al Bagno during their vacation in Puglia, Italy. Jahanavi would like to claim that she knew it was coming, but she was definitely led off course when, just a couple hours before the proposal, Paul spontaneously chose to cliff dive while she stood watching with his phone and wallet in her hands.
Now over 7 years into their relationship, Paul and Jahanavi are preparing to tie the knot in New Canaan. They can't wait to celebrate the start of their marriage and share this special day with loved ones.
